Is Georgian IVF worth going? Who is suitable for making test tubes in Georgia?

Is Georgian IVF worth going? Who is suitable for making test tubes in Georgia?

Why do people still consider going to Georgia to do IVF when the domestic assisted reproductive medical resources are becoming more and more abundant? For pregnant families, overseas treatment is often not because of the distance, but because they want to find medical services that are more in line with their own conditions.

So, is Georgian IVF worth going to? The answer depends on the individual's reproductive needs, medical conditions and the cost of cross-border treatment. Georgia can be an alternative destination for families with clear needs for assisted reproduction who want to compare different treatment schemes. However, if we only pursue the so-called high success rate, going abroad may not be more advantageous than treating at home.

1. Why do some families consider Georgian IVF?

Georgia is located in the border area between Europe and Asia, and the capital Tbilisi has medical institutions that provide assisted reproductive services such as in vitro fertilization, embryo culture and embryo freezing.

For China families, there are usually several practical reasons to consider Georgian IVF.

First of all, I hope to get the advice of different doctors. Some patients have experienced many treatments or have doubts about the existing scheme, and hope to re-evaluate the etiology, ovarian function and embryo situation through overseas medical institutions.

Secondly, there are differences in medical needs. For example, some families need to know about egg donation, genetic testing or other assisted reproductive programs, hoping to compare medical resources and applicable conditions in different countries.

In addition, some patients pay more attention to the arrangement of medical treatment and hope to obtain relatively continuous doctor communication and medical coordination services during the treatment.

However, the fact that Georgia has relevant assisted reproductive medical services does not mean that all projects are open to everyone. The medical indications and legal requirements involved in different treatment methods need to be verified separately.

Second, under what circumstances, it is worth considering to go to Georgia to do test tubes?

To judge whether it is worth going abroad, we can first look at whether the existing treatment programs in China can meet the actual needs.

Overseas assisted reproduction may have certain reference value for families who have identified the cause of infertility but want a second opinion.

For example, some patients with ovarian dysfunction, male fertility factors or repeated treatment failed to achieve the expected results, etc., can bring previous examination and treatment records and apply for remote preliminary evaluation to Georgian reproductive medical institutions.

If overseas doctors can put forward different medical treatment ideas, and then decide whether to go to the local face-to-face clinic, it will be more reasonable than buying treatment packages directly.

For families with a clear risk of genetic diseases, you can also consult whether the local hospital has the corresponding genetic testing ability before embryo implantation. However, the third generation IVF is not suitable for all patients, and whether PGT is needed should be judged by doctors combined with the results of genetic counseling.

If the patient has been able to receive appropriate treatment in China, and the doctor's plan is clear and the treatment is progressing normally, then it is usually not necessary to simply change the country.

3. Is the cost of IVF in Georgia worthwhile?

Many families put Georgia on the candidate list of overseas test tubes in the hope of finding a balance between medical services and economic investment.

However, when comparing the cost, there is an easily overlooked problem: the hospital quotation of overseas test tubes does not mean the full cost of completing the treatment.

In addition to the expenses of promoting ovulation, taking eggs, fertilization, embryo culture and transplantation, it may also involve expenses such as embryo freezing, genetic testing and retransplantation.

For cross-border patients, the cost of air tickets, accommodation, translation, leave and follow-up after returning to China also needs to be considered.

Especially for people who need multiple treatment cycles, the final cost may change with the physical reaction and treatment results.

Therefore, instead of looking for a so-called unified price of IVF in Georgia, it is better to ask the hospital to provide itemized quotations according to the results of personal examination, and at the same time understand how to calculate the extra expenses when the treatment is not as planned.

4. What are the restrictions that are easy to ignore when going to Georgia to do test tubes?

An important problem is that IVF treatment and third-party assisted reproduction are not the same thing.

Georgian law allows in vitro fertilization and partial assisted reproductive projects under specified conditions, but when it comes to third-party pregnancy, there are additional requirements for the client's relationship certificate, agreement and related procedures.

Therefore, it cannot be simply understood that "local IVF is allowed" as "anyone can receive all assisted reproductive services".

In addition, there are practical limitations in cross-border treatment.

If monitoring needs to be increased during drainage promotion, the patient may need to adjust the itinerary; If it is not suitable for immediate transplantation after egg retrieval, it may also face phased treatment. How to arrange reexamination, drug use and pregnancy management after returning to China also needs to be confirmed with the doctor in advance.

Although these problems are not as eye-catching as the technical projects in hospital publicity, they may directly affect the treatment experience and overall cost.

5. What should I confirm before I go to Georgia for a test tube?

Instead of setting the date of going abroad first, it is better to get a medical advice first.

For families who are exposed to overseas assisted reproduction for the first time, they can sort out the previous examination report, hormone level, semen examination and uterus and ovary evaluation data and submit them to the doctor who intends to see a doctor.

Focus on understanding whether the doctor suggested to enter the test tube cycle immediately, what plan is expected to be adopted, whether supplementary examination is needed, and what follow-up options are available when the number of embryos is insufficient or the transplantation is postponed.

At the same time, we should check the institutions that actually provide medical services, the qualifications of doctors, the responsibility for expenses, and the delivery methods of medical records and embryo preservation documents.

If it involves gamete donation or third-party pregnancy, it is necessary to conduct another legal qualification assessment, and it is not possible to rely solely on general medical consultation to confirm the feasibility.

6. Is Georgian IVF really worth going to?

Georgian IVF can be used as an overseas treatment option for some families, but it should not be regarded as an easier way to succeed than domestic IVF.

For families with clear medical needs, reliable medical evaluation and cross-border expenses and follow-up arrangements, it is of practical significance to go to Georgia to further compare treatment plans.

For families with unclear causes of infertility, reasonable choice of domestic treatment, or tight budget and schedule, it may be more practical to give priority to completing domestic systematic examination.

The overseas test-tube treatment that is really worth considering is not because the destination is concerned, but because the local area can provide medical programs that match individual needs and are acceptable in risk and cost.
